Autumn Writers' Exhibition 2008

October 4th - November 2nd

 

 

 

It's over .. for another year ....

 

 

 

 

Culminating in a fancy dress ball with music by Djai Skjellerup and Dale Katscher, and a spectacular firework display by Judi Newall, the AWE ended on the evening of Sunday, 2nd November, after a final week of music and literary events.

There were four competitions running through the AWE, each with a L$5000 prize:

 

A prize for the best exhibition display, to be judged throughout the exhibition;

A poetry competition, for a poem on the theme of Autumn;

A short prose competition, also on the theme of Autumn

The best fancy dress costume at the Autumn Writers' Ball.

 

The winners were:

 

Best Display

 

Aribella Lafleur

for her four different animated displays, changing each week of the AWE.

 

 

Best Prose Piece

 

Aurise Liadis

for her poignant and touching short story, 'Afternoon Still Life'.

 

Best Poem

 

Romie Vella

for 'Calaveras' celebrating the Mexican Day of the Dead festival.

 

Best Costume

 

Tid Kidd

for her shy and charming Jane Austen!

 

 

Finally, thanks to all those who displayed and performed at the Autumn Writers' Exhibition.  We couldn't have done it without you ...
